Joe Parker aka D2C 
Joe received a Ph.D. in comparative studies from the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University, and today specializes in the politics of knowledge, postcolonial and decolonizing relations, gender and race relations, and postmodern social change. Recent publications include a book on democracy in social movements and indigenous communities, Democracy Beyond the State: Practicing Equality (Routledge, 2017). He has also published essays on feminist agency and on social justice in interdisciplinary academic work, and an article on the subaltern in post-9/11 documentaries. From 2008 to 2016 Joe has been active in a Zapatista-modeled community in East Los AngelesEastside Café Echospace and also traveled to Chiapas, Mexico doing human rights work and for the 2013 Escuelitas training with the Zapatistas.
